XCMG XR1600E Rotary Drilling Rig —— A Powerful Tool for Super Large Diameter Piles, Conquering Cross-Sea Mega Projects
Release time: 2026-03-26
Project Scenario: Core pile foundation construction of the main piers of a cross-sea highway-railway dual-purpose bridge.

Core Challenges: The construction requires completing bored piles with an ultra-large diameter of 6.3 meters and a depth of 100 meters. The seabed geology is complex, featuring interbedded highly weathered and weakly weathered fractured granite formations, which place extremely high requirements on hole enlargement technology, pile verticality, and the equipment’s split transportation and assembly capabilities.

Equipment Advantages: As a benchmark for ultra-large diameter rotary drilling rigs, the XCMG XR1600E has a maximum drilling diameter of 7.5 meters and a maximum drilling depth of 190 meters. Adopting a split modular design, the weight of a single module is controllable, enabling long-distance rapid transportation and efficient assembly. The original four-level hole enlargement process (2m → 3m → 4.5m → 6.3m), combined with a special hob-type drill bit, effectively breaks through the 1.8-meter level difference limit of traditional equipment and ensures drilling accuracy in extreme geological conditions.

Construction Achievements: The equipment had an extremely high attendance rate, completing one pile every 10 days on average. The overall construction efficiency is about 15% higher than that of similar equipment. It successfully completed the construction of all 8 ultra-large diameter pile foundations with high quality and zero accidents, laying a solid foundation for the construction of the cross-sea bridge.
